Welcome to the Bluff City!!!!

If you like good times, good food and good music I know a place you will love!!!! It is the city that I call home, Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis is the largest city in the state of Tennessee with a population of nearly a million people. It lies right on the Mississippi River. There is plenty to do and a lot to see

All About Memphis

One of the things that you must do is visit World Famous Beale Street in Downtown Memphis. It is a cobblestone street lined with various restaurants and clubs. On the weekends you can hear some of the best music in the country. You will mostly hear the blues but bands also play rock and country music. Also, you can see the Beale Street flippers as they perform their high flying acrobatics. Some of the notable restaurants and clubs on the street is B.B. Kings which has great food and music. Also, there is a Hard Rock cafe and a Coyote Ugly. For the young and hip party goers you must check out Club 152. W.C. Handy park which is located near the center of the street hosts live bands on the Budweiser stage in the summer time. There are also local artists drawing portraits or taking pictures for a small fee. Beale Street is really rocking in the month of May. That is when the city celebrates "Memphis in May". A country is picked to be honored that month. The first weekend in May the Musicfest is held and world class acts perform. You can see performers from all genres of music live!!!! Two weekends later you have BBQ cooking contest in which participants from around the world set up shop and show people what they got!!!!! I am tellling you folks that is some good eating.

There are other things in Downtown Memphis to see such as the Fedex Forum which is home to the Memphis Grizzlies and the University of Memphis men's basketball team. Adjacent to it is a wonderful museum called the Rock and Soul museum. Music lovers and historians would love this. Across the street there is the Gibson Guitar factory which gives tours daily. Also during the summer you can catch the World Series champs St. Louis Cardinals' triple A minor league team, the Memphis Redbirds, play to sold out crowds at Autozone Park. Also located downtown it the National Civil Rights museum. This is a must see for everyone!!!!!! One of the largest pyramids is also located on the banks of the Mississippi in Memphis. It used to be a sports venue but is currently being renovated to house a Bass Pro shops.

There are other great places for music lovers to explore. Graceland is a nice tour located on Elvis Presley Blvd. I was thoroughly impressed. You also have Sun studio. This is where Elvis recorded a lot of songs. There is also the Stax Music Museum which is nice too.

Don't forget the bbq!!!! Memphis is not short on spots for good eating. The Rendevous is located in downtown. Also, Neely's restaurant, ran by Pat and Gina Neely from the Food Network is located here. My favorite Corky's has several spots around the city. Go to their website and have some sent to you via Fedex. You will love it.

As you can see there is plenty to do in Memphis. It is so much that I have probably left off a few. Just do yourself a favor take a couple of days and travel on down to Memphis. I promise you that you will have a great time!
